On Sunday 16th June after a week of rain the sun broke through the clouds just in time for us to welcome friends and family to enjoy our annual open day. The warm sunshine combined with the relaxed atmosphere resulted in a very successful and memorable day.
On site we hired a bouncy castle which was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids and by more than a few adults. Gypsy Rosalee read peoples fortunes in tea leaves and foretold that a wonderful day was to be had by all.
The entertainment on the day was second to none with Cecil singing, along with our own Rachel Shields. If this wasn’t enough we were spoilt by graceful dancers from the Aisling School of Irish Dance. The day was rounded off with a delicious BBQ prepared by our own chef.
On the day we held various raffles and games with the proceeds going to this year’s two chosen charity’s ‘The NI Air Ambulance ‘ and ‘The NI Hospice’.
We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this day such a success especially the staff at who make Ballymaconnell Private Nursing Home the warm welcoming place it is.
The month of June as always is a busy time in Ballymaconnell. On Tuesday’s we have our weekly visit from Christine and her harp which brings a period of calm for everyone with her soothing angelic melodies.
In Ballymaconnell Private nursing Home we believe in an all-round approach to caring and we plan our daily activities accordingly.
Challenges like ‘Memory Monday’, ‘Number Spot’, Arts and Crafts and quizzes help stimulate the resident’s minds. Activities such as ‘Chair Exercise’, ‘Floor games’ and short walks help keep the residents fit. Music days, Songs of Praise and family time give the residents a better sense of mindfulness.
