A purpose-built development, Larne Care Centre is set close to the port of Larne and has spectacular views over Larne Lough. It is within easy commuting distance to Belfast, Ballymena, Ballyclare and the Antrim Coast.

Leslie has worked in the caring profession for 30 years; the last five in private Nursing Homes. He has experience working with clients who are frail and elderly, have dementia and physical disability needs. Leslie holds an Honours Degree in Nursing from Queens University Belfast. He joined the company in 2013 and is an in-house trainer for Wilson Healthcare.

Accommodation

The Home can care for up to 83 clients in four independent units. Each unit is unique with the rooms designed specifically with the needs of the client in mind. There is also a five bedroom self-contained unit which provides assisted living services. Each client has their own spacious bedroom, furnished to a high standard with their own en-suite bathroom.

Facilities

Facilities include a café, shop, activity rooms, day dining rooms, hairdressing room, treatment rooms, lounges, kitchens, sensory rooms, gardens and outdoor patio as well as overnight accommodation for visiting relatives or friends. The Home is well equipped with a lift, wide stairs and wheelchairs for ease of access throughout.

We also have a ‘not for profit’ shop which opens two days a week and is operated for the convenience of our clients and their families.

Clients and families can also spend time relaxing in our ‘Maidens’ café which provides complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits each day of the week.

Activities

Our dedicated Activities Coordinator provides a varied programme of entertainment and activities, which can be tailored according to each client’s individual needs, abilities and preferences. In addition, we offer clients the latest therapies available including reflexology, aromatherapy, foot spas and the very popular reminiscence therapy. We also organise outings including shopping trips, visits to local beauty spots and trips to special events.

Catering for Individual Tastes

We delight in our excellent reputation for our exclusively home-made food. Our Chefs enjoy compiling varied menus of nutritious, balanced foods, always taking into consideration special dietary needs and individual preferences. Every day there is a choice of meal options. In keeping with our flexible, non-institutionalised environment, clients can choose their own dining times.

Staff

We view the Home as a family unit and believe it is important to offer a relaxing, comfortable, homely atmosphere with the assurance of 24-hour nursing care.

From day one, each client is allocated a Primary Care Nurse who takes the time to get to know each client – helps them to settle in, gets to know their individual needs, abilities, preferences, likes and dislikes and is on-hand to support them. Each Carer is committed to preserving the individual’s privacy, dignity, choice and independence.

Our Nurses are professionally trained and fully qualified with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and our Care Assistants are registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).

All our staff members attend regular and up-to-date training sessions. Topics such as food hygiene, fire safety and health & safety are covered.

Caring Together

In order to maintain our reputation as a leading Healthcare provider, we continually work with relatives to review and improve our services.

We ensure a comprehensive approach to caring for each client by regularly discussing their requirements, preferences and progress, as well as providing the opportunity to openly discuss any suggestions that any relatives might have. We put this information to use by designing integrated programmes of care based on each individual’s needs – social, physical, mental and spiritual. We also hold group meetings for clients, relatives and staff with the aim of generating ideas on activity programmes, charitable fund raising events, proposals for facilities at the Home, as well as general ideas for improvement.

As part of our commitment to caring together, we operate an ‘open house’. Family and friends are welcome to visit their loved ones at their convenience and are encouraged to participate in daily activities, events and outings. If you would like to share a meal with your loved one, just let us know and we will set an extra place!

Quality

The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) monitor the Home twice per year to ensure it meets specific standards of quality care as well as all legislative health & safety requirements.
